BSc Eligibility Criteria

One of the most crucial aspects to take into account when applying for admission to any preferred school is eligibility. Candidates who meet the qualifying requirements established by the institutions will be permitted to move on with the admissions process. Both full-time and part-time options are available for students pursuing a B. Sc. They must make sure they meet the minimal eligibility requirements established by the college or university awarding the B. Sc. degree.

1. The primary requirement for entrance to the B. Sc. programme is having completed senior high school from an accredited board in the Science stream.

2. Additionally, candidates must have received an overall grade of between 50% and 60%.

3. Depending on the regulations of the college in which applicants are interested, different minimum qualifying marks may be needed for admission.

BSc Admission Process

Depending on the criteria of each college, the B. Sc. admissions process may differ. Many dual degree programmes, like B. Sc. + M. Sc., B. Sc. + MBA, etc., are even offered by certain universities.

Typically, the admission process is based on the merit list, however some universities have entrance exams to narrow down the applicant pool. IAT IISER, OUAT, NEST, and other admission exams are a few examples.

Merit-based admission: Miranda House and Hindu College accept applications based on candidates' grades in the 12th grade and their respective cut-off lists.

Admission through entrance exams: Some prestigious universities, such Aligarh Muslim University and Orissa University Agriculture and Technology, accept applications based on applicants' performance in their entrance exams. Shortlisted candidates are chosen based on the university's eligibility requirements, and those chosen must pass the admission exam before moving on to the personal interview stage.

Types of BSc Courses

Full Time BSc Course

Full-time BSc students are those who must devote the majority of their time to their studies in order to graduate within a set period of time. The BSc programme has a three-year duration, therefore students are required to put up their best effort to finish the programme and do well on their exams. A full-time BSc student is required to attend at least 5 hours of class each weekday. (Varies from university to university)

Part Time BSc Course

A student who is enrolled in a part-time BSc programme essentially has greater freedom to complete the course at their own pace. The student is not given a set amount of hours to complete the course in this instance. Most working people and students pursuing additional degrees or other interests choose this BSc programme format.

Distance/ Correspondence BSc Course
With a distance learning BSc, students are able to learn at their own speed without being forced to attend campus. The only time a student must attend college is when they must take an exam.
